"A Heart for the City"

I have a friend here in Houston who is doing something this summer that is not only risky and challenging, but it is life giving and profound. Read below to find out more about what she will be doing. I have created a painting that we are auctioning off to support her trip. If you are interested you may contact me (juliechariee@gmail.com) or Samantha.

"This summer I get the opportunity to bike across the Northern US from Seattle, Washington to New York, New York from June 2nd to July 25th. I get to use a gift that God has given me, the physical strength to ride for a purpose. The purpose of the ride is to raise funds for organizations that bring justice and hope to the lives of people living difficult circumstances across the globe. Our team will travel from city to city stopping at churches and other organizations speaking about some of the realities and injustices around our world. I am very grateful for my friends and family who are supporting, encouraging and praying for me as I prepare for this adventure. I have raised $1030 for the trip, but there is still $3965 needed. Julie has painted a beautiful piece of art which I will call "A Heart for the City." The bidding will start at $200 dollars, but if you don't win the painting please consider helping me take part in this journey.
Thank You,Samantha Gonzalez"

Taft Street Art Market

Thank you again to all who came out to the Taft Street Art Market. It was such a great experience to get out and meet so many new people. The Art Market was the first time I ever tried to go out and sell some of my paintings. I was very encouraged by my experience and look forward to participating in more Art Markets. What was so great about this particular Art Market is that 20% of the money earned went to Living Water. We were so thankful that we were able to give our time and money to such a great cause.

If you have any questions in regard to the Art Market please contact me at juliachariee@gmail.com. If you are interested in purchasing a painting that you saw please click on the "purchase and commission" tab.

Thank you again to all who came out the Art Market!

2 The Least

I have been helping some friends with a non-profit they are trying to get going. The heart of the organization to help "the least of these," through orphan care/adoption. If you want to know more about the organization you should check out their blog at 2theleast.blogspot.com.

You can purchase a set of cards with one of the images being this one. I was inspired a by a picture of a little girl in Uganda that a friend took.

beauty from ashes
You can make a donation to 2theleast.org and receive an e-mail with one of the 3 images below on a gift tag for you to gift to someone for Christmas. The gift tag will say, "however much money, was given in your honor to orphans in Uganda, a domestic adoption or to living water." We are doing this to provide alternate gifts to support Advent Conspiracy.
This piece is about adoption. I used newspaper on the background of the painting. I also cut out certain scriptures from the Bible and pasted them on the canvas. You will receive this image on a gift tag if you donate to a domestic adoption.
Adoption
This piece is about orphans. My husband helped me come up with this idea. The painting is of the same boy. The one on the left is how people often see orphans. The image on the right is how God sees orphans. He sees all of us as princes and princess. We are children of the King, orphans, middle class, rich, or poor. We are equally loved and adored by our creator. You will receive a gift tag with this image if you donate to orphan care in Uganda.

In the Eyes of the King
This piece is about water. From left to right the water starts out dirty and then becomes clean which then clean water gives life. God is our living water, when He comes into our lives He washes us clean. You will receive this image on a gift tag if you donate to Living Water.
